I just migrated from my pixel 2 to my 6 pro.

Plugged it into charge after migration and the phone lights up and vibrates and makes a sound while charging. I use the same charger and cable I use with my pixel 2. I switched to the cable that came with the pixel and same problem.

For some reason the pixel does not come with a charger so I don't have any other to try. My other chargers have the large USB connection and I don't have a USB to USB-c cable to test with another charger I have around the house.

I went into settings and turned off vibration and sound notification when charging but phone still lights up without the sound and vibration.

Kind of strange the phone does not come with a charger. How would I charge if I did not have a usb-c charger from my last phone? I shook the box, no charging cube.

Do I have a defective phone?

That's not s problem. When connecting s charger to a pixel 6 and 6 pro it vibrates and makes a little sound that's intended. My pixel 5 used to do it as well. I think it's an Android 12 thing and not s phone thing. Also yup the pixel 6 and 6 pro followed the iPhone and Samsung trend and she not provide a charger. If you need a charger unfortunately you have to purchase one.

You can turn off charging sounds and vibration in the Settings>Sounds menu.

It's not unusual for a charging plug not to come in the box. Most people already have multiple chargers from prior devices, so it really does contribute to e-waste. If you really don't have a prior charging plug you can use at home, then they're very inexpensive these days at most stores.

The sound, phone lighting up, and vibration is constant when charging.

The phone still lights up and pulses without the sound of vibration when I turn sound and vibration notifications while charge.

I guess I'll need to contribute to e waste by having UPS or driving to a store to buy a charging cube to check if that is the problem.

For now I will turn phone off to charge it.

I ordered a $25 google brand charging cube on Amazon, will know if that is the problem I believe current cube I use is from google because the pixel is the only think I have with USB-c to USB-C charging.

Oh nm it should only vibrate and play a sound once when plugged in or put on a wireless charger. If it keeps doing it then definitely need to see if it's the wire itself or the phone because it it's the phone you should request a replacement asap.

Sorry, can you clarify -- when you turned off the Charging Sounds & Vibration setting, you're saying the screen still turns on and stays on? What do you mean it "pulses"? It's normal for the screen to turn on when you plug it in, but it should still time out.

When Charging Sounds & Vibration is turned on, it shouldn't have constant sound and vibration. Does that persist in Safe Mode?

Phone lights up and goes bright and dimmer each time the vibration and sound happens. If I turn of vibration and sound, the phone lights up and goes bright and dim without sound or vibration.

Sounds like an unstable connection in the USB port. Since you already tried different cables, it may be an issue with the port. Make sure it's clear of any debris -- blow it out with a can of compressed air, and clean it with a dry toothbrush. If the problem persists, I agree with dmxjago, contact Google for a warranty repair/replacement.

Unfortunately it's problems like these that can often rear up when you transfer data directly from an older phone to a newer one. That's definitely not normal behavior, but a modern charger with usb-c most likely won't cause that. If the new charger doesn't fix the problem, I would suggest a factory reset and start it out as fresh, don't restore from backup. You might go through all the hassle and waiting just to find out the new phone does the same thing And you might not even get a new replacement

I was thinking, if the new charger doesn't fix the problem, you have to factory reset to return it anyway, so if it's a hardware problem you might see it on the initial setup screen... the phone would just act like you're plugging it in/unplugging it over and over. I don't know what charging notification the 6 shows on the initial screen, but you might find out from there whether it's a hardware or software problem.

I would very definitely do a factory reset and then set it up fresh. There is no way I would ask for a replacement and risk getting a used refurb.

I had the on/off, on/off with charging by cable and replaced the cable for it to work properly. I am now using my gen 1 pixel stand to charge it wirelessly and ordered the gen 2 which arrives on my birthday next week.

When phone is on and pulsing and going crazy it does say it is fast charging at bottom.

Knock on wood.... I turned it off, let it charge to 100%. Turned it on while still plugged into charger and no more buzzing flashing and beeping.

I just plugged into charger to test with phone around 85% and it is charging normally. Hoping for the best.

By the way. Like the phone. Still doing the reach around looking for the fingerprint scanner. In screen scanner is fine, just getting used to it. I turned on location no lock for when I am home so I don't need to unlock all the time. This feature never worked very well with the Pixel 2 xl.

I did nothing but let it charge to 100% with phone off.

Now I have an extra $25 google charging brick that I didn't need.

Well that definitely points to a software issue/bug. Kinda like going in and back out of safe mode and something starts working right, or a restart fixing something etc. It most likely won't be a problem again, and if it is it should be fixable through a software fix of some type.. you hopefully won't have to go through the hassle of returning your phone.
