How well has your battery capacity held up?

I press the Power button for a couple of seconds, then tap Power Off on the screen.

Edit: Just saw your post B. Diddy. I never realized it could be done that way, too.

In order for the long-press of the Power button to work to power off, you have to go to Setting>Gestures>Press and Hold Power Button first and make sure "Hold for Assistant" is turned off.

I just wish Google would get rid of the "PRESSING 2 BUTTONS", to SHUT DOWN.

Type power off in search settings and it's there.
Couldn't tell you why they hid it where they did.

Thanks. I've been using the SWIPE DOWN TWICE method but it just annoying that Google "FIXED WHAT WASN'T BROKE “

Ok, then if you don't use the long-press Power to bring up Assistant, then turn off that option as described above and you can long-press the Power button to bring up the Shut Off option again.

Thanks. That did it. Fixing perceived problems is easy once you know where to look. Things are back to normal and I'm happy. Thanks again.
