As the subject asks, with the 441ppi, do we think the 5" Pixel will look great for VR, or will its bigger sibling far outshine it with its higher-resolution display? Will VR see that much of a difference?
As a current Nexus6p owner already experimenting with a cheap VR headset from Amazon, I'm curious.

    Nexus 6P: 5.7 inches
    WQHD (2560 by 1440 pixels) at 518ppi

    5" Pixel: 5.0 inches
    FHD AMOLED at 441ppi

    5.5" Pixel: 5.5 inches
    QHD AMOLED at 534ppi

I wonder if Russell can jump in here.

I suppose weight will have a lot to do with a comfortable VR experience as well. The 6P is quite heavy compared to other headsets. I assume the Pixels are both lighter.

    Light bump.

Any ideas? I'm genuinely curious as to how much better the Pixel's bigger variant would be for VR. Would I even notice? I'd rather have the 5" sized phone a la the old Nexus 5, but I don't necessarily want to sacrifice good VR.

I think the larger pixel will definitely look better for VR. Pixel density matters a lot when the screen is so close to your eyes.

I was torn as well. But I settled on form factor over screen resolution.
    Jonneh and munozyoshi like this.

That's what I'm afraid of. Hmm...

Yeah, that's what I'm sooort of leaning towards, but...wanted to gather others' opinions here first. Thanks! I'll be curious to hear how you like it!

Not sure..but all the tech sites and Google's site have it at "534ppi". Not huge over the 6P's 518, but perhaps considerable enough over the smaller Pixel's 441? That's what I'm trying to see...if I upgraded to a smaller Pixel because I love the 5" size, but I'm also a VR fan and have been enjoying it on my 6P, will the smaller Pixel mess up my VR experience? I can't decide if I want to sacrifice VR for the smaller form factor that I want; or that it would sacrifice it at all, because I'm rather ignorant on what it takes to make VR good.

PPI really doesn't make a difference at that distance once you get over 400, in my opinion.

Come on over and become a VR Head!
Not if that is the advice you offer. PPI is critical to VR, and even quad HD is insufficient for a smooth viewing experience. But it is noticeably better than 1080p.
