Pixel Bluetooth issues

I'm having the same problem as the original post with My Pixel and my 2016 Honda Pilot. Everything works great except for the Bluetooth calling. I can not place or receive a call in the car, but I can list to audio via Bluetooth without a problem.

The strange thing is that the Pixel works perfectly in my 2009 Honda Civic. I can place and receive calls without a problem. I also tried a Galaxy Note 5 in the 2016 Honda Pilot and it worked just fine. This seems to be an issue specifically between the Pixel and the 2016 Pilot. Not sure who's end the issue is on, though.

Same exact issue here. 2016 Pilot Ex not handling phone calls, but streaming audio fine. Contacts and call history also working fine.

I rented a 2016 Jeep Cherokee over the weekend, had 0 issues with the Bluetooth audio, messaging, and phone while traveling... Was just a learning curve more then anything...

I have had some issues with my Pixel and 2017 Audi A4. I can connect to BT with no issue and the phone status shows up on the screen. I can switch to BT Media and play music and get turn-by-turn through my car speakers. However, if I am listening to SiriusXM I no longer get turn-by-turn at all. Not through the car speakers or Pixel speaker. This worked fine with my iPhone 6 and iOS 10. I have it set up to play voice over BT and during phone calls but it only works if I the BT input selected and nothing else. This previously worked fine with my iPhone and Google Maps.

I am going to try and play with it today to narrow down the issue. I will also connect to Android Auto and see what happens there.

I've always seen the same thing with android. I don't think your issues are specific to Pixel. I always had to drop the bluetooth to get turn by turn to come out of the phones speaker. Now if you are saying the built in nav of your car is not working when connected to the phone that is a whole different issue.

I just don't like how the audio has gaps in it randomly during playback. Like it has to catch up or something. Happens during playing downloaded content music as well.

That was the same behavior that I used to see on my LG G4, but I have yet to notice it on the Pixel XL. Knock on wood, but so far so good with Bluetooth for me.

It was mentioned in the gripes thread that it could be an issue with how Google does Bluetooth.

Bluetooth, WiFi, and LTE connectivity are handled by Qualcomm through their Snapdragon 821 chip. It could be a firmware issue. Have you tried other phones did you say, with your specific vehicle?

I finally received my Pixel. Set up on my '15 Tundra went fine and everything worked for a few days. After a few days, the Tundra Head unit, loses message access and ID3 tags for media no longer show up. If I forget the truck in the Pixel and remove the phone from the truck, turn off the truck, and restart the phone, re-pairing is successful again for a few days. This has been happening since Android 6.0

I have noticed the same. I cannot have my Gear S2 wearable connected to my Subaru at the same time. The Pixel will not accept my Subaru bluetooth as a "trusted device" either. Google - this a a huge disappointment. I did not have these issues with my Samsung Galaxy S6. Please get it fixed ASAP or this could be the last Google phone I own. I have the 128GB Google Pixel & my husband has the Pixel XL. We both just swapped to Google phones from Samsung phones.

I have also noticed voice quality issues when my husband has his Plantronics 5220 headset paired with his Pixel XL. Step it up Google... We expect better than this.

Overall, I'm very happy with the usability of the Google Pixels, though.

I had to return the Pixel's we had here at work for the Moto Z Force Droid. The Bluetooth issues were a real thing and I had two salespersons who could no longer answer and receive calls in their Car's Bluetooth systems. One car was a 2011 and the other a 2015. My 2016 Jeep had issues too...it would work initially but would crash and cause my car's entertainment system (UCONNECT) to lock up and you had to pull over, stop the car for a few minutes and then back on to resume.

Sure, the Z-Force is not Pixel but I tested them side by side for several days before making the agonizing decision to move to them. It was just as snappy as the Pixel and did receive Nougat yesterday so I could (yea!) use my Daydream. The camera is for sure not as fast but so far, it has done a decent job on photos and is rated just below the Pixel on DxOMark.

I believe that as of now, BT issues are the Pixel's Achilles heel. Issues with BT signal range, BT signal integrity/consistency, and BT pairing, especially in automobiles are common.I've been vocal on the Pixel Community front, and have pointed Google resources back to this thread. I got a response today from a community leader that the Pixel team is working on this issue now. Of course, this doesn't help people like the poster above that needs to depend on solid BT performance for work. For many of us, it's simply an inconvenience, and one I am surprised that we are seeing with a flagship device in 2016. Dependable BT connections are something we came to expect years ago with devices that are downright primitive compared to the Pixel. It'll be interesting to see how committed Google is to resolving this issue in a timely manner.

I totally agree with you. This should be a plug and play, end of story kind of deal especially approaching 2017. Quick fixes shouldn't even be an option. It's just something that is needed and expected to work from the get go

We also have a 2016 Honda pilot and have the exact same issues with my wife's phone.

Honda will tell you that the Pixel is not on their "compatible phone" list. However, I use a Nexus 6p which is on their list and will not connect to that particular vehicle properly. Not the same issue, but will not make a call properly. So now Honda Canada as well as the dealer's service manager are working to find a solution. This has been on going for nearly 2 weeks now.

FWIW, I've had the same issues on my S7edge in my car and is the reason why I'm giving the Pixel XL a try. I spent the whole summer going back and forth with Samsung to no avail.

Update: My pixel bluetooth is functional and I have paired with 3 devices: my Moto360 smart watch, ERA/ICON Jawbone earpiece and my 2008 Nissan. Thanks to Verizon Wireless specialist in store. Google Phone support not so helpful though they tried. Google told me only one device could be actively paired at any time. Perhaps they meant the initial pairing process is done one device at a time but once paired and recognized by phone, the watch and headset can be active concurrently. Keeping pixel for now.

Any time there is new software/hardware released, there is going to be a period of time where some things don't work. It's just how technology is. Nothing is ever perfect out of the box. If this worries you, then hold off on getting the phone or wait patiently for an update while Google gets it resolved.
