Went to a Sprint store yesterday with my Pixel XL to connect it on my current line, and they said its not possible. The only way i can connect my Pixel is through one of their pre-paid plans. Thats very disapointing 😕

why do you need them to connect for you? can you just put in your sim?

And completely incorrect. I have talked to both Google and Sprint on this and they have both assured me that it will work. My local sprint store manager was excited about the Pixel and was wanting to get his hands on one as soon as he could.

The rep at my local sprint store said that since they dont cary the phone i can't do it. I wentto two different stores and got the same response! Any ideas? Also, on the sprint site, when trying to activate it myself it doesnt recognize the esn

I guess since Sprint is CDMA it's different? You don't have a sim card with your current phone?

My current sim is from an IPhone 6. I tried inserting that, but no luck. It just keeps retrying, with a maximum of 5 tries

Well that is disappointing to hear. I had trouble at first with my Nexus 5 when I got it. I had to get a new sim, and they do have to register the phones esn in their system. I don't think switching sims from a working phone is enough to make it work.

Good advice. I would also talk to tech support over the phone if needed.

I had the same issues trying to activate a Moto X Pure.

When the rep acted like she may not be able to activate, I fibbed and told her it was a Sprint branded device.

I gave her the phone's device id number and she was able to activate.

She was very nice and I truly believe she honestly thought that only Sprint branded phones work on Sprint.

    Pixel does work on Sprint.

I went to a corp store, purchased SIM and the rep had to tie the SIM to my account. Sounds like you've been working with really dumb reps.Issues with Pixel XL and Sprint-sim.jpg Issues with Pixel XL and Sprint-sprint.jpg

Just wanted to share my experience. I used the full 15 digit MEID from the Pixel and my existing sim from my Nexus 6P.
The website showed a picture of my Pixel XL and proceeded to take me through the prompts.

However, after trying Internet Explorer and Firefox, it kept giving me a message to chat with a specialist to complete activation.

Got a rep via chat in 1-2 minutes and advised I was trying ti activate a phone. Advised her it was the Google Pixel XL and she said, "Cool."

She asked for the MEID and IMEI and told me things looked good on their end. I thanked her and disconnected.

Prior to the chat, I decided to leave my sim in the Nexus 6P, just in case the rep was having computer issues and/or said they were unable to activate a non-Sprint branded device.

After she advised everything was good to go, I put the sim in Pixel and it worked right away.

I also went into: SETTINGS>MORE>CELLULAR NETWORKS>CARRIER SETTINGS and Updated the PRL and the Device Config.
This took an extra minute and may have been unnecessary, but......

    Everything is working GREAT!!!!

I work at sprint. That information is not correct

Sprint has just as much compatibility with this phone as the other carriers we have sim cards at our locations for the phone and non training employees know how to get it activated. I already have my sim card i got from sprint, just waiting on the phone

It's called a "Bring Your Own Device" sim. Tell them that's what you need.

I remember when I was having similar issues trying to activate a Moto X Pure that I had purchased directly from Motorola.
I wasn't having any luck with Sprint until I called in and got a rep in the global department, since I was told they had the ability to send out sims for free.

The previous Sprint rep wanted to charge me a few bucks and one of them advised me that they couldn't activate a non-Sprint branded device.

If anything, Google's massive advertising campaign may make more reps realize that you can activate non-Sprint phones on Sprint.

I think the best thing to do is keep talking to different people until you find one that knows the process for BYOB devices.

As a last resort, I know Best Buy has these BYOB sim cards available to, but they charge $10. I would be curious to know if Sprint stores are charging a fee or giving them out for free.
