Home button animation gone when touching the home button

It just happened to me for the first time, I've had the phone a week. I was tinkering with the guest account seeing what it was like and when I went back to mine it was as you said. I rebooted and it wasn't fixed. Then a few minutes later it was randomly back to normal. I wonder what the circle means?

The assistant works when animations are gone though. I'm curious why the pixel has the extra circle around the home circle, never seen another pho e do it. Unless they added it for 7.1?

Yeah, i tested my derp thoery and quickly realized i was wrong.

I dont know, I just assumed it was all part of Google's new nav bar skin. But the fact that it disappeared on you must mean it is may be related to some service

The strangest thing is that I have the animation, that comes and disappears and I don't have Google assistant activated (cause its not available in Spanish, my mother tongue).

But, as to the above, I think not.

I turned on Airplane mode; the outer circle remains.

I then held the home button for a second, got the animation followed by the assistant popping up and saying "Hi, how can I help?" I asked it for something and it (she?) replied:

My wife's pixel has no ring, no animation, no assistant for months, it only worked for a week or so.
