i bought a 32 silver at 15-feb. it had been with me for 1 month. i used some sony android phones previously. the ux between pixel and those sony phones are different. google is more prominent in pixel. e.g. when i got into a shopping mall, the phone would prompt me some notifications such as do i need interior maps of the mall. when i finished taking some photos, the phone would prompt me to contribute them onto google maps. i did this many times and i gained some progress. it is happy to discover that my photos are viewed by many people.

the other interesting thing is the timeline. it records my movements and shows them on the maps.

i used android phones for years but i didn't notice these functions. maybe i am too lazy to explore the ui and dig deep into all pages of all apps. thanks for the google in pixel being so proactive to show the hints. i like the google apps. the calendar is well integrated with the contacts and maps. it would be great if the photos app could organize the photos by geo-infos just like that in iphone. below are some misc screenshots showing my 1 month data usage and 1 day battery consumption experiment (the pixel acts as a wifi router during that period).

it is lucky that my pixel doesn't have the "30% --> 0% sudden power off" flaw which was reported by many users.

I may have missed it in your post, but did you get the XL?
no, I got the regular one. it is more comfortable to grasp..^^'

recently I am playing with the lens blur. I find it very interesting. it is easy for a photo dummy like me to produce some seemingly professional photos..^^

It is pretty incredible the lens blur feature! I had someone ask me if my picture was taken by an Digital SLR camera!

yes I am very satisfied with it. I am not new to android but as said the "google" in the system of this phone is more proactive to prompt me what it can do such that I discovered some features that I missed before.

yesterday I asked "ok google, how to go home by public transits?" when I was in a district not familiar to me. it provided the correct information. siri is not able to do that. I tried that on an iPhone.

I'm loving the camera in this phone, and to have it say "6 hours left" with 32% battery is something I'm not used to coming from a Nexus 5.

Fantastic pictures. Really impressive. Id love to see more as you continue with the phone.
I am interested in those google services. google seems organizing my photos in its own way.

2017-03-20.png

I didn't create these folders. they were created by google automatically.

I guess google is using some image recognition techniques to identify the contents of my photos. it recognized a flower as food.

2017-03-20 (2).jpg

some are not flowers too.

2017-03-20 (3).jpg

mistakes exist but i know it is not so easy to identify the content in a photo. it seems google is experimenting something.

I am not a fan boy, at all. But damn if the Pixel isn't the best all around phone I have ever used. I adore the camera and I love all of these fantastic photos posted!

Very cool. Let us know what you find!
the first thing I noticed was the absence of aurora live wallpaper. I couldn't find it in wallpaper collection. second thing was about android pay. android pay is not supported in this preview build. wallpaper is not a big deal but if you rely heavily on android pay you should avoid this build.

The photos app does automatically put photos in folders based on location. I have location reporting on all of my pictures and the folder called "places" has them all separated and organized. It's a great feature for traveling

the title was originally "one month with my pixel". now it is two month. i noticed some changes of my photo habit. initially i didn't have any idea of photography and took picture when i found a place beautiful.

scene.jpg

each of these photos captured a large area of the scene and didn't have obvious subject. eventually i discovered the lens blur function in camera app. i was addicted.

fake.jpg

lens blur function can make real things to look like toys. this effect is called miniature faking. after playing with this for a while, i was bored. i tried took photos in unusual angles.

angle.jpg

after doing that for 10+ pictures, i felt those pictures too deliberate, i.e., unnatural. i then took picture at normal angle and tried my best to eliminate the sense of parallax.

flat.jpg

i don't know what i would go next. photography is interesting.

Google Photos is amazing. One perk for Pixel owners is the unlimited photo storage. You don't have to worry about backups anymore. Especially that backing up to the app is a breeze
