Replacement Pixel XL question

So Verizon is replacing my Pixel XL due to excessive battery drain. I am wondering if I should transfer everything from my old Pixel XL so I have everything or if there is any benefit to only transferring some of the text messages I need and my pictures and then starting fresh with everything else?

Fresh start always gets my vote. If it just so happens that one of your favorite apps was causing the drain then perhaps as you load the new phone up you'll notice. It's quite hard to resist the urge to just load up a ton of apps in the first couple of days though.

I am going to see if the pixel transfer tool allows me to just transfer my photos and text messages and not the apps and then load my apps individually as I need them because I know there are apps on my phone that I probably don't use anymore but still have there for one reason or another.
