Okay, so i put all my music on my SD card, and I want to play it through Google Play Music on my android Motorola Moto e phone. The music worked fine when it was on the phone's internal storage, but an SD card had to be used because i ran out of space. However, now when i try to play a song on my Sd card Google play music says "Couldn't play the track you requested". And i have no idea why, is there a way around this? If not then what are some music player apps which will play MP£ files off my SD card?

Use a different player. Google Play Music plays music on internal storage. (Good move, Google - NOT.) Almost all the music players on the Play Store will play music from the SD card. Even the default "Music" app will.

What player would you suggest? I tired VLC and Apollo, VLC only shows like 25 of my songs from all 348 on my SD card, and Apollo regularly stops working, any software you can point me to which i can get on google play store or is compatible with android 4.4.4?
