I just let the network do it's thing... but you can also do it yourself. A simple Google search and I found this: How to Manually Switch Network on Project Fi

Not to control network but just too know what Carrier tower I am using only out of curiosity..

You can do that with SignalCheck Lite on the Google Play Store.

I'm using the Fi Spy beta and liking it. I have a widget on the second screen telling me what network I'm on, as well as it being on my notification drop down menu. It also will put the codes onto the clipboard, so you just paste them into the dialer to switch networks. You can sign up and get a link to the app here.

By chance have u noticed if Fi Spy has any effect on battery drainage?

I haven't noticed any by Fi Spy on my phone. I did have problems with GSAM and GasBuddy keeping my phone awake.
