I've been wondering for a while now why my shuffle play keeps playing the same songs frequently. Ran down the list and it appeared songs were missing that I know I copied to the folder. Used a file manager app to view the contents and sure enough there were far more songs than what the player was showing. Don't know when this started or how but I can confirm it was not after the JB update as that happened almost immediately after I set up the phone for the first time and did not yet have music on it.
In any event, it is resolved. I had to go into settings/apps/all apps find the music player and clear the data and force close it. (Not sure if the force close really mattered.) Restarted the app and all music is showing now. Just thought I would post in the event someone encounters this problem.
PS: I shut down my phone every night so it was not matter of rebooting.
