What is wrong with my notification volume?

This has been happening for quite a while, but it has finally gotten to the point where I'm tired of missing text messages and responding to them late.

My notification volume seems to be stuck on silent. I've been through installed apps including GoSMS and the default Messaging app, and tried using apps in the market, but nothing seems to change the system notification volume.

This screenshot is in the system sound settings, adjusting the notification ringtone... Notice the volume slider is all the way up, but the icon says silent. And as I touch the notification sounds to play them, nothing happens.



What's more, when I use a third-party audio manager app, I can manually raise the notification volume level, but as soon as I leave the app to do anything else, it resets itself to be silent again.

What is going on?

Are you rooted? It says rooted in your profile preview.... So im going to guess yes and tell you to do a backup > and then flash this xda-developers - View Single Post - [MOD] [GNEX] BEATS+XLOUDER! 4.1.2/4.2.2 [03/05/13] JB Louder Audio Improvement Patch

Is this a guess that it might fix it? Or do you know?

It seems like this is only going to make the speakers louder.

It is just a guess... but it doesnt just make it louder. It will remove your old scripts and files for sound and replace it with there for ALL the sound on your phone....

Well I flashed it, and it did nothing.
