Hi everybody for everybody who has the on HUB router. I was just like your honest opinion how it is I am going to be coming from a Nighthawk 1900 router I feel like it's time for a change. And since I can always get another onhub and use it as a mesh Network later on. I thought that help would be great router. Now I was wondering since 8 has a single Network and it chooses which device gets 2.4 gigahertz or 5 gigahertz. My main question is concerned is how well does it do band switching. Meaning if my phone can do 5 gigahertz any benefits from 5 gigahertz will the on Hub give it the 5 gigahertz band. The same will go for my Xbox. And then I would like your guys overall idea of how the router and how easy it is to use Google WiFi app.

As far as I can tell, all my devices that support 5 GHz are connected via 5 GHz and have done so automatically since I replaced my old Apple Base Stations with two On Hubs and one Google Wifi. The speeds and range of my network is night and day compared to my old Apple Base Stations.

As a side note I started with just one On Hub to replace two Apple Base Stations and that alone eclipsed the Apple set up, adding a second extended my range well out into my yard like never before and adding my Google Wifi extended it well out to my garage were I never had service all the while my Pixel phone is connected between 5xx and 866 Mbps where before I was LUCKY to get 10 to 54 Mbps. (Depending on distance from access point)

Clearly for me even a single On Hub is an upgrade over an older wifi router.

Another point, my son and I each have PlayStation 4 and play online together from about 50 feet from each other, before we would lag on occasion and screens took time to load, since the upgrade to On Hub the lag is gone and screens load blazingly fast.

I will say the On Hub is far more powerful than the google wifi nodes in my testing range wise and I sort of regret not adding a third On Hub over the google wifi, but the wifi unit is nicer looking out in the open.

We have 30 connected devices in my house, about half are on wifi the rest are hardwired via gigabit switches back to the primary On Hub connected to my modem.

Hi thank for your response. That helps me a lot. I would also like to know how easy it is to use the app.
