My Samsung Tablet is charging only when the screen is on, why is it doing this?

Samsung tablet charging only when screen is on

Going crazy on this issue.

I have a Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 and it only charges when the screen is on.

As soon as the screen is off, after 5-10 sec the screen turns itself on (as if the charging cable is pulled out) and it does not want to start charging again (even if screen is on) until the cable is pulled out and reinserted.

Using the original charger and cable.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Welcome to Android Central! Have you tried a different cable and/or charging plug? Also, check the microUSB port to make sure there isn't any debris in there.

The charger is have tried is original, I have also tried another 2 adapters (one from iPad + Nokia cable and another Samsung travel adapter) and the same problem.

At first I thought it was the wall socket, then I thought it was the debris, and now I know the exact reason. The tablet only starts charging when the screen is on and stays on for the duration of the charging cycle.
If the tablet goes to sleep, the charging stops every single time.

My guess: software issue, or bad battery chip.

If anyone has had this problem, let me know what you have tried.
