why would my phone not charge or turn on?

i had trouble with my phone screen, i would get messages and calls but the screen had white and green lines going down when i pressed the lock button on the side or the home button. i watched a video about a person with the same phone and the same problem so i did what they showed in the video but my phone stayed the same, then i put it to charge for a while and the screen was the same . after doing the same thing four times my phone wont turn on or charge it seems dead.

Welcome to Android Central! Sounds like a total hardware failure. Either contact the manufacturer if it's still under warranty, bring it to a repair shop, or shop for a new phone.
