Airpods with S8=low volume

I'm a recent convert to Android after using the iPhone for 8 years. I got the Galaxy S8 on Friday, and have spent the weekend figuring how Android works. There's been a lot of little things that I knew how to do easily on an iPhone, but have had to relearn the way it works in the S8.

The newest issue I'm trying to figure out relates to using Airpods with the S8. I love the Airpods, and got them paired up to the S8 fine. But the volume is really low, like half what it is using other devices (even other non-Apple devices). I've Googled, and tried what I could find. I reset the Airpods, and deleted and repaired. Other bluetooth headphones work fine with the S8. Any ideas?

Yes, aside from having to change the media sync setting after every reboot. I ended up going back to iOS though, I don’t have the S8 anymore.
