According to Honor Support, the dimming of the screen when on the browser or Netflix or camera is to prevent overheating.

...sounds like they decided to make it all based on what apps are reunning instead of actually heat-based dimming (like on some LG phones)

I don't know what's worse, the screen dimming due to sloppy programming (what I thought the problem was), or because the phone is just not able to handle the heat of its own lcd.

The screen dimming problem, along with my bluetooth and OS stability problems is what led me to pick up an s8+ last week (bogo deal... came out of it ok, but I've never spent so much on a phone). I haven't had such a solid and stable phone since my Nexus 4 (so far, 8 days in)

Really bummed about my experience with Honor. Loved the phone and idea behind the brand, it just didn't hold up.
