When trying to enroll a new fingerprint, I am getting almost an instant message: "Enroll failed. Failed to construct fingerprint. Try enrolling another fingerprint" with Retry and OK buttons. Did anyone else encounter such a problem?

Before I did not have to do any special cleaning. Anyway, I tried this suggestion, although it did not help.

Thanks for your suggestions, although I did not have much luck after wiping off cache either.
It's an Honor 8, model# FRD-L04.

It gets more interesting—entire Fingerprint ID section is gone from the Settings.?

Restart your device. Maybe even try a soft reset (not a factory reset - don't worry, you won't lose any data). Did any water get near your fingerprint scanner? What about unlocking your phone with other fingers that are already enrolled?

Definitely, Honor 8 is full of surprises. It's no fun at all, regarding both the device experience and dealing with the customer service. I bought it from Newegg.com

I got mine from Newegg as well. Let us know what happens if and when you do contact customer support. I thought Newegg also advertised US insurance in their Honor 8 deals?

The Fingerprint ID section reappeared in the Setting by itself ... very strange. I am able to register fingerprints and screen unlock seems to be working, although it is unable to recognize fingerprint more often, as compared to before.

Wow, that is indeed very strange. Did you update your phone recently, delete an app - anything like that?

I am sure there have been a number of app updates, but no updates to the system. The system is currently having build number FRD-L04C567B385 and change log has no information. I wonder if there is a chance something is being pushed quietly.

It looks like the system is calibrating itself (in this case by altering fingerprint settings) based on performance of the hardware components. Do you think it is the Android or rather Huawei thing?

I would point to Huawei first before Android, but honestly I am not an expert on software updates and things of that sort!

I saw discussions on missing settings in other forums. If this hypothesis is correct, and they simply remove settings of a poorly performing component, it appears like an attempt to hide a problem from the users, which is not fair.

The Fingerprint ID is gone again. Do we have anyone here who could shed light on why it is happening?
