I looked through the specs on multiple sites and none mentioned it, but was hoping that someone in the know can confirm.

    12MP and 20MP, right?

I'm guessing the 20MP is the monochrome one.

Any idea which sensors they're using? IMX?

And would both need to have OIS?

Well on the iPhone 7 plus, only the primary has ois.

IMX386 for the color sensor if it has PDAF. Not sure for the other one.

On the P10 and Mate 9, both of which use the same setup, the RGB module has OIS while the monochrome one doesn't. However, this isn't a big deal as the secondary sensor will help with soaking up more light.

Hopefully it helps. The pixel doesn't have ois and it was fine. The honor 8 though could have been a little improved. Granted the honor 8 is not in the same price range as the Pixel, so this isn't really a knock on it's performance which is good for it's price

It's worth noting that both sensors are on the smaller end of the spectrum at 1/2.9". On the color sensor, the pixel size is approximately 1.25 microns while it's smaller on the monochrome sensor, although this is effectively countered by the lack of a Bayer filter, meaning better sensitivity to light. This means that even without stabilization, the camera is still capable of pulling off some good low-light photos and allows for crazy good dynamic range.

Also worth noting that the Pixel has HDR+ processing on its side. Coupled with the large sensor, it really is a great stills performer.

    Duh, of course.

It's the successor. If the successor has a worse camera all-around than the predecessor, we have a problem.
