Silly question - got a Touchpad running CM7 alpha 3. For general purposes, when it comes to turning it off is it necessary/advisable to turn it off by holding down the power button and then selecting power off, or is it 'ok' to simply tap the power off button to send it to sleep? This obviously would turn the machine on that much quicker, but I don't know what the affect would be on battery life.

Sleep will use more power than completely powering off the device. Many folks have had issues with a bug that doesn't let you power down on the first try. You attempt to turn it off and it restarts. I had this happen once and then it shut off.

I keep mine mostly in standby mode with an occasional shut down.

I only ever tap the power button usually, the battery should last 2-3 days in sleep mode. The only time I ever turn it off fully is if I need a full charge as fast as possible. During a normal week it is left in sleep mode when not in use and it gets charged every day or two depending on how much use its had.
