How quickly does anyone think Android N will land on the (probably unlocked first) HTC 10?

No one really knows. Android N isn't even out yet -- let alone for another OEM that isn't Google.

If you are asking which one will get it first the carrier or the unlocked versions of course it will the unlocked variant.

Well, it's just so Nexus-like, it got me thinking in that direction...of course the unlocked one would get it first (another reason to go unlocked, heh), but I suppose I'm wondering how fast the A9 ended up getting Marshmallow after it came out, that would probably be a good indicator.

The slimming of Sense might have been intentional so that updates can happen faster. They may be aiming to get well under previews promises of updates 90 days after release.

It will be faster than a carrier version but .. It still will take time. Google will have to give Android N to HTC and they will have to make their modifications and then send it out. The only step missing for the unlocked version which is the carrier bloat (and usually that is the longest step).

So my answer .. Faster with unlocked? Yes.

Based on assumptions with the A9, the much-more slimmed-down version of Sense and HTC's generally good update track record since 2013, I'd say pretty soon if you have an unlocked device.

If you own a carrier device, it's gonna take a long while depending on the carrier.

The good thing is that HTC is usually pretty transparent on this. Check their social channels for any info on OTAs.

My answer: Pretty soon, but don't expect Nexus-like update consistency and speeds.

I would think the first phone to get it would be the Nexus in the fall so I don't think the 10 would have it until the end of the year.

Well, I just had to reboot my Nexus 6 to get it to pick up T-Mobile data when I left my WiFi this morning, so maybe Nexus and early builds aren't all they're cracked up to be.

Anyway, I'm still torn, but I figure I can wait until next week for the hands-on reviews before I order my unlocked one (or decide to wait for the HTC Nexus 10 anyway, heh).

I thought the A9 ran on Marshmallow out of the box?

I can't remember if it did, but it was the first non Nexus phone to run marshmallow

I think people are reading this wrong they other person is not asking if this phone will get android N before the nexus thats a no brainer. They are asking do you think the unlocked will get it first most likely vs the other versions that will be on carriers.

Actually, I was asking how fast HTC would have their N build ready versus the likes of Samsung, LG, and Moto. Looks like the answer is "first" though.
