Wired Vs wireless phone to TV hookup

I want to connect my phone to TV in an area where I do not have Wi-Fi. On my m8 I used an mhl adapter. I know that won't work now. So would you go wireless with miracast (which I think works without Wi-Fi) or look for a type c to hdmi connector?

The easiest would be the cable, and that would make the image better and more in sync. Not sure Miracast TVs work on WiFi Direct (without a WiFi router) or not, but there are Miracast dongles that do support this. Chromecast, unfortunately, does not support WiFi Direct

So I have bought two adapters and neither one is very good. The phone recognizes a device in the USB port but doesn't always mirror the phone on the TV. The second adapter is not recognized by the phone at all.

If anyone has a suggestion for a wire, let me know.
