Disabling what looks like a car mode?

So when I have my phone in landscape and plugged in it goes into some strange car mode with a circle clock in the middle. Even if I'm using it for navigation. If it's in portrait and plugged in it doesn't do that. But I can't figure out why. What am I missing?

Is there a magnet involved anywhere in this process? It sounds like something is triggering Ice View.
Look in settings>personalize>Ice View and uncheck Use Ice View
