Android Central Question

The hardware of the phone is built like a hi-fi with a speaker that plays high frequencies at the top and one that plays low frequencies at the bottom, though at some point they changed their minds and went for stereo / left and right audio channels (instead of mono / bass and treble channels) without changing the speakers. So what we get is the right channel playing through a bass driver and sounding loud and muffled with no high end, and the left channel playing through a treble speaker, which is way quieter and is ear piercingly shrill if you turn it loud enough to be able to hear it over the bass driver. There used to be an alright workaround by switching to mono audio in the settings every time you play music out loud though with the latest update you can no longer switch to mono audio unless playing through headphones.

I've looked for apps which can switch to mono or otherwise alter the left / right audio signals though can't identify any. Is anyone else having these issues / does anyone know of a workaround for this?
