    FAQ

Q: Why do I need this?

A: You can use this to completely remove evidence of rooting from your phone if you want to send it in for repair, or sell it. You can also use this is your phone has been infected by app-borne virus (I believe I just coined that term ).

Q: Will this wipe my phone of all data?

A: Yes, this will wipe your phone completely and rewrite the partitions to a stock (the way you bought it) condition.

Q: Will this wipe my SD card?

A: NO, this will not wipe any data on your SD card, only system partitions of the phone itself.

Q: Does this void my warranty?

A:No, in fact if you had a software change that would have have voided your warranty before this will bring you to a state that they will have never known an alteration was made.

Q: Will I lose any apps or data during this process?

A: You absolutely will, this is a full wipe of your system. But please refer to Post #2 where we will give you steps to take to back up your apps and data. Post #5 after you are done with the wipe and restore will give you the steps to restore the apps and data.

    Factory Restore

    1. Download the RUU that applies to you:

If you are on a custom ROM, or have not updated to official 2.2, use the 2.1 file: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

If you are on the official stock 2.2, use the file here (first one): HTC Mobile Phone Support - HTC Aria™ (AT&T) - Downloads

    2. Power off your phone and leave it disconnected from your computer.

    3. Hold volume down and press power to boot to the bootloader screen.

    4. When the screen finishes loading, press the power button once to enter Fastboot.

    5. Connect the phone to your computer.

    6. Open the .exe you downloaded, and follow the wizard. When it finishes, you have a restored phone.

yes I have had an on going issue I have tried to do the restore with both it starts the process and gets to erasing user data and gets to 10% then an error comes up error 171 no usb connection. I have tried the changing port and cable and even tried my friends comp. I used unrevoked and running cm7 rc2 on my Aria/Liberty.

Weird...read through this thread, I know some people had some issues. I had no problem with these instructions, so I don't know what would go wrong.

I know it's been ages since you last posted here, but do you still have the RUU for 2.1? Megaupload links don't work.

You can download the upgrade file at HTC Mobile Phone Support - HTC Aria, but using Google Chrome. I had many problems to download it with others browsers.
