This phone has been perpetually out of space since I got it. Once I hooked it up to the network it would update it's typical OS files and bloat-ware until it would literally run me down to the last 10MB of internal storage before I installed a single app, took a photo, etc. I limped around for a while by wiping it, and blocking all automatic updates, but now I'm trying to fix it for good.

I've since rooted the phone, and Clean Master can help me keep it in a sort-of-useful condition but again, I'm still unable to install more than a handful of very small apps (less than 100MB in my downloaded apps). Any ideas where to poke around for problems with the internal storage? (I've already moved apps to the external SD, only save photos on the external SD, etc.)

I installed a terminal emulator to give me a window into the system. Here's a quick summary of the free space:

/storage/emulated/legacy 1032M 938M 93M 4096
/storage/emulated/legacy/Android/obb 1032M 938M 93M 4096

While there is ~90MB free on /storage/emulated/0 at the moment, this will fill after a week of light use. BTW, I've been a Linux user for 10+ years so I'm comfortable poking around, but am not familiar with the nuances of Android.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Cheers,
Rob

Hello Rob :)
I'm a bit late but here is what I want you to do. Connect your phone to the PC, make sure you have USB Debugging turned on. This commands are for Ubuntu but they should work in Windows the same way. Open terminal and type "adb devices" , you should get something like this:
Code:
List of devices attached
CC48VY402526	device
It has to say "device" at the end. Now type "adb shell". This will give you terminal access to your phone. Next type:
Code:
su
cd /system/app/
ls
And post the output here so I can tell you which apps are safe to delete.
Do the same for the priv-app folder:
Code:
cd /system/priv-app/
ls
Also post the output here, because there are some unnecessary apps in that folder as well.
After this we are gonna use an app from the play store to give you back your storage. With this method I maneged to get back 3.2GB from the 4GB storage. :)

Cheers,
Denny
