My htc 626 desire will not work through my aux cord through the radio, why is that?

It can play music, but it will not play music through my radio when I hook up the aux cord. I tried different cords and also made sure it was plug in, still nothing will work.

Is it still playing through the speaker? (The Aux port isn't enough of a load to tell the phone that something is connected to it.) Or is it not playing at all? (The audio is switching, but not from the phone to the cord, rather from the phone to "not the phone" [IOW, to nowhere].)

The fix for the first problem could be as simple as a 1k resistor across the leads. The second one would be a defect in the phone.

Welcome to Android Central! Make sure the volume on the phone is turned up all the way, then adjust the volume on the external sound system.

Also, do headphones work normally in the phone? If not, use a can of compressed air to blow out the jack, in case there's debris in there.
