how do i exit safe mode on an htc desire eye?

my phone had died and once i turned it back on it was stuck on safe mode and i am now unable to enter any apps but i don't wan to restart my phone. i want to keep all of my pictures, messages, apps, etc. but I'm unable to find any other way to exit safe mode.

Try this:
1.Turn the phone off.
2.Turn it back on and hold the “up” volume button.
