I want to update HTC Desire Android 2.2.2 to at least 4.0.3, how can I do this?

I want to update HTC Desire Android 2.2.2 to at least 4.0.3

I only need to use the camera and wifi for Presence security app, I do not need to use as a phone. Please advise the simplest method to update to at least 4.0.3 My HTC Desire is unlocked GSM phone

You can root it, unlock bootloader and use a ROM like CyanogenMod or other ones that are available for it.
