I am currently on blackberry, and i am thinking about switching to the droid. i have a few questions about Android though

1) Can i run applications in the background (IE instant messaging)
2) Are there applications that can combine IM services into one? much like IM+ or Beejive for blackberry.

you can remove certain things from the app managment section of the options, but afaik, there is no "shrink-a-os" equivalent to remove preloaded parts of the OS you might not want.

once the device is rooted, you could try alternate custom roms that have less or more of what you want.

If I'm not mistaken MEEBO is on android, which is my personal all in one IM that I use when I'm on the PC. It's also the app I've always been waiting for to come to BB
