How to move items to a secondary screen and keep them from reappearing on main screen

I try moving application icons from the main screen to one of the side screens, and removing the icon on the main screen by moving it to the bottom.

However, when I leave the main screen and then go back, the application icon I removed has reappeared on the main screen.

How do I keep this from happening?

When say main screen are you referring to the home screen or the screen that shows all the app? If you're talking about the screen that shows all of the apps I believe all the apps will show no matter what screen you set up a shortcut on.
