Warranty Replacement 3D sent with S-off

I haven't seen anyone post with this so I thought I would. My 3D's screen kept locking up so I received a warranty replacement from HTC. Upon receiving it, I checked the HBoot fully expecting 1.5 with S-On. To my surprise, it was 1.5 but S-OFF.

Has anyone else received a 3D with S off? Theoretically I skip the s-off steps to root and just flash a recovery and custom ROM right?

If it doesn't already have it you'll need a custom recovery, i recommend the newest and best one out there 4th ext. recovery available here: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e....control&feature=search_result&token=Tvh3VKiB, and then you need superuser found here: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...S5ub3NodWZvdS5hbmRyb2lkLnN1Il0&token=6yGHGIv5. and lastly you can flash roms easily with 4th ext. recovery.

the only time you need superuser is if your going to stay with a stock rom,most all if not all custom roms are rooted already and no need to install superuser

and yes once s-off always s-off even when you update to hboot 1.5
