Sending/receiving pictures with text app

Hey guys. Any time I send or receive a picture using handcent my phone attempts to send it using 3g connection even while I'm connected to wifi. Not sure if it's Handcent issue or text in general. Has anyone noticed this on their phones? Wifi is the only icon in notification bar until I receive a text with picture and then 3g icon appears along side wifi icon and it slows the download. I have to manually turn off 3g to allow the phone to use wifi for download.

I think you have to be on data when sending MMS!

I think it just automatically switches to 3G/4G for some reason. Probably cause it involves sending something between two phones so it requires the carrier's wireless network. Go SMS does the same thing.
