Phone making horrible noise when i make or receive calls

Hello all of a sudden I can no longer make or receive calls- as soon as i press send or receive i get this extremely loud metallic sound...

i know the calls are going through otherwise...

any ideas?

Have you tried turning off fastboot and rebooting the phone?

yes - sorry i didn't really provide much info did i.

I am unrooted, 1.22.651.3 (haven't done the latest OTA because I still want to root and want to confirm that i still can with the OTA)

I tried rebooting (with and without fb)
I tried tried removing the SIM
and I am currently about to try google voice to see if that helps

I don't really have any other ideas. Seems very odd. Makes me wonder if it is that tower or something.

* Try different tower
* Try speakerphone
* Try bluetooth headset or car connection

What area are you in? My phone does something similar at times and so did my original EVO.

central NC - apparently we're under tornado warnings...could that be it maybe? power is in and out.

This was happening to me when I had hearing aid on... Go to settings-call-make sure hearing aid is unchecked
