Looks like conflicting reports on an EVO LTE Jelly Bean update

My thing is, I have seen multiple users claiming sprint reps told them it is out there and its being pushed in waves and my many attempts through sprint chat and on the phone every sprint rep I spoke with denied any such update for our device. Now I realise there are some levels of sprint with more info and some sprint reps are very naive but howcome some get told one thing and in my many attempts I kept getting the same response even through different contact methods with different reps every time?! So I'm starting to wonder if these people
claiming such things are just trolls yanking our chains!! :( :( :(

Re: Update coming to HTC evo 4g lte

I'm thinking based on the banner from the TC, that the EVO LTE Jelly Bean update might be more likely on Nov. 27 rather than the 15. It's pushing out now on the One X and with the previous update the EVO got it about 20 days later. There will probably less time with this update, so the Nov 27 date seems plausable to me.

It just seems that the One X is taking current priority.

Re: Update coming to HTC evo 4g lte

I also talked to both sprint and HTC yesterday around 3pm eastern time. Sprint confirmed (3.15.651.11) (Jelly Bean) update, HTC confirmed (3.15.651.11) (NON Jelly Bean) update "but unknown on release yet from HTC". Both however said that it's being released by ime # and also noted that there is x amounts of lots that are dedicated to x ime #'s. Meaning that if there is 3000 updates released on the 15th and only 1000 people that take the update on the 15th than on the 16th there is only 1000 updates that day until the previous ime #'s use up the update or until the 27th when it goes ota. So as far as it taking forever to get your update blame it on the people who is eligible for the update not excepting it. Also side note most of the people who rushed to get the phones first are usually root users and they probably won't take the update for that reason.

Calm down, I think it's pretty obvious sprint has absolutely no idea what they are doing so contacting them is useless.

If I make enough calls I can probably find someone to tell me we are getting android 6.0 thin mint

While they probably won't take the full update, people who have rooted phones mostly know to download the update and upload it to a developer site so that the development teams can do their work to it. So far, I've seen not a single update anywhere from XDA, or even doing a Google search for the version number.

Below is the response I received to my email to Sprint. Still take anything said with a grain of salt....

Hi Terry,

Thanks for contacting Sprint Cares in reference to confirming an update
for the EVO 4G LTE. I will be happy to advised that the latest software
currently available for HTC EVO 4G LTE is 2.13.651.1. As far as a new
version of software, any updates for the device will be sent directly to
your device. If you want to confirm you have the latest software updated
on your device, you may go to MENU>>SETTINGS>>SYSTEM UPDATES>>UPDATE
SOFTWARE.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to reply to this e-mail.

Thank you,

Yahkie W.

Could you please verify, or deny, whether there is a current update for
the EVO LTE being distributed? I believe the quoted update was
3.15.651.11. I've been told by Sprint that a coming update will fix my
issues, and it's been stated several times that there is an update in
the pipeline - but nobody has seen it yet.

It's getting very frustrating waiting for the problems to be fixed and
only rumored fixes mentioned with no real verification.

Thank you for your time,

Terry

I know that people in Sprint's call center where I call for *2 (I have SERO so I get Employee Accounts), they know nothing. I've called a couple times.

Re: Update coming to HTC evo 4g lte

I just called. Spoke to 3 different people until I finally got to somebody higher up who confirmed the update was going out too like 1000 devices at a time or something. I questioned her about the screen shot and she wouldn't confirm it but from what she said it sounded like she was looking at the same screen. She said we would get the update soon but there is no way to force iit. HTC said they got the update to sprint end of the month and sprint would push it out by the end of this month. It is Jelly Bean by the way according to HTC. So all is good.

Re: Update coming to HTC evo 4g lte

i may get a lot of heat from this comment, but i'm going to say it anyways.

this is one of many reasons why people choose iOS over android. apple is always informative and consistent with their major OS updates.

Do you want to know why that is? How many different phones and operating systems does apple have when they are updating? Two, max? Care to guess how android has at any given time? 10? 20? 30? Maybe more, with all the different OS and phones with different hardware on those phones. It's hard as hell to keep update with things. Fragmentation, fragmentation, fragmentation will always be the main issue with android.

Iphones have been, are, and always will be the smart phone for dumb people.

I'll take my fragmentation with android any day of the week over having to deal with an idevice.
