Battery drain from maps

I can't quite remember, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think crxssi has a post about this somewhere...

scratchfwb, if you don't get my drift, there are TONS of posts around here about this. crxssi is leading the charge against location history and Google spy. I let him repeat his normal refrain.

I thought I saw something a few weeks ago but couldn't remember if it was in the battery life thread or the problem thread... I was using Google Now but didn't have a problem til the last two days...

Damn location history WAS on again. Does it default to that after a reboot?

It's not supposed to, but that doesn't mean something else didn't happen to cause it to reset. I find, even with location history off, and Google now off, that maps is still always using 20% of my battery.

Try un checking report from this device. It's made a huge difference for me.

Yep, been unchecked for quite a while.

What technically DOES report from device do?
