Ok so the past week or so I have been cracking down reading on this root stuff. After the recent OTA update and the push for more bloatware I have decided to root my phone. Problem is I am reading there is a few different methods to root, mod and kernel your phone. I notice that each one of these methods have their variables. As I am still kinda up in the air on this and never rooted an Android phone and am still reading I wanted to reach out for some advice.

I am looking to get the best stability, performance and most of all battery life from my phone. I of course in doing this wanna remove all this Sprint crap from my phone. I like the Sense UI but could probably live without it considering I bought LauncherPro Plus and frankly I like it.

Now to bust on myself. I know ithe rooting stuff is plastered most everywhere on this forum but I suffer from a comprehension disorder. If things aren't in one place for me to read over and over I have a hard time understanding. I would appreciate some help if you would. I am gonna list some questions that I need help with and some of them may sound dumb or may have been answered a thousand times over and I apologize but if it's all in one place I succeed much easier. I can and will accomplish this..I refuse to fail and if you guys will help I would appreciate it.

    1. For what I am wanting Stability, Performance, Battery Life, Rid of Sprint Crap (Except Sprint Nav & Football App, Swype) What is the best Root, Mod, Kernel combination in your guys opinion I should use. You guys seem to be the experts.

    2. What particular things will I need to complete this task.

    3. Anything I am missing to get me started?

I think this will get me going if not completed. If I need anything else I can come back. From reading I got a general idea I'm really just not sure what combination of things I should get. Some things make me think I don't need to change a kernel or a mod others do so I am a little confused being new to this rooting.

So as I am reading it appears HBOOT-2.02 or Above cannot be rooted. Is this true? If so then I cannot root at all because mine is like 2.12 something.

    It CAN be rooted, http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-...ew-hboots.html

The rom youre looking for is going to be http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-...651-1-ota.html

It has sense removed, battery life is awesome and vaelpak settings app lets you add whatever you want to it automatically.

So, in order to root you will need to set up adb and preferably have a windows or linux PC. Ill list some more guides and stuff to help you out.

This one has ALOT of info, some of it a little outdated but most of it is golden - http://forum.androidcentral.com/hack...l-rom-faq.html

My H.boot is 2.10 I typo'd. Will this work on it?

Edit: Disregard..After reading the first link I see it's for this specific H.boot only.

Looks like a much more complex root then unrevoked which is what I had been reading on till I realized I couldn't do it. Guess I better read more.
