Hi guys,

What is the fastest way to root an original evo4g running 2.3.3??

Gingerbreak doesnt work and unrevoked gives me the classic "is your firmware too new?" Error message. Yes i tried factory reset & installing / uninstalling htc sync. i have all the drivers.

I just acquired this phone and i cant stand not having root access. Please help.

Oh my computer is Vaio running vista 64bit.

Im pretty sure this is an old topic, but i cant seem to find it. Maybe this will get rerouted to ALL THINGS ROOT. Sorry moderator!!

Yeah Jcwguy is correct, you need to use Revolutionary for the Evo4g on 2.3.3, it will take literally a few minutes to complete once your set up.

The 2.18 Hboot is comes with the 2.3.5 update, and will require the HTCDEV method, so don't update ;)

Make sure you run unrevoked as Administrator otherwise the operating system will not grant you the necessary privileges to modify the phone.
