so today was my first full day with the EVO and after a full night of charging, the battery app said that after 1hr and 25 minutes off the charger (its really been about 5 hours), and very very light use. just a bit of texting, a couple trips to the app store, and the usage of a few apps, almost no browsing, i'm down to 35% battery...that can't be good can it, or is that normal for just default factory settings?
since then i've tried taken off always on mobile, auto-sync and deleted all widgets but time and weather and now its back on the charger. i was just wondering if this battery life is normal for a first charge/default settings or if thats low even for that.
edit: the android system percentage was also at 50% which seems much much higher than everyone elses who has posted screen shots, any idea what the cause of that would be/if it is bad?
My battery last me about a day and a half under normal circumstances. There are a few things you need to be aware of if this is your first Android/sprint phone.
First of all if your in a building or area that has your phone constantly searching for signal, then your in for a rude awakening with Sprint, especially on certain phones. Turning off data roaming and selecting "sprint only" should help here, or turning off your 4g and wifi radios unless you need them.
The biggest battery saving tip of them all is to turn off background data and auto sync when your in those bad areas, or better yet whenever your not using them. Putting the Power widget on an area of your desktop helps.
There is a free program on the Android market that brings up sync settings in one click, which also enables you to turn off background data.
Another huge battery saver is to set the screen brightness one setting down from max, unless you need it bright. Turning off live wall papers helps too. And using a program like Astro to turn off alot of programs running in the background (you'll be suprised how many programs are running).
Why do you need to do all of this for Android phones?
Because of multi tasking. Its a double edged sword, that power users love, and novices don't understand.
One day Google will get this whole system running smoothly, until then there are still a few things that need to be done to get things running smoothly.
One of the biggest reasons that Apple sticks with AT&T and does not want to implement real mulittasking is because of battery life.
AT&T with their 2g network that cuts everybody off all the time, also has signal that penetrates buildings and thereby your phone is not left searching for signal forever (but you unfortunately get cut off alot because of that same fact). And their multi tasking is a large joke, having your IPHONE 4 crash because of true multitasking is not implemented.
