EVO messaging question

I have a question about the EVO messaging application. How many messages does it hold? Is it like the Pre where it holds an unlimited amount or can you only store a certain number of messages? I think I read somewhere that it only holds 200, I just wanted to ask an actually EVO user. Thanks in advance!!!

this is through Handcent, not sure if the stock messaging app is the same but my Handcent holds 220 and deletes the oldest after that

Thanks! Is that 220 total or per contact?

Also why would Android limit that? That is one of the great things about the Pre is that you can have entire conversation threads for as long as you have the phone and with the Backup utility you can even carry the messages to your new phone....

It will hold infinite amounts. There is a setting to delete after a certain number (configurable) but you can also set it never to delete.

ah, nice! kinda blew my mind that they would have it so that it limited you to a certain amount to texts.
