Post #1 & 2 have been updated. Everyone still having issues with performance and battery life, please read it.
If I didn't list your specific issue, it's because I am waiting to hear from 2 or more people to confirm the issue you have reported.
Thanks,
Cory
I updated to Froyo last night and I can't open the internet browser. It gives me a force close message. Has anyone experienced this? Is there a fix for it? :(
no task killer and no hard reset
Searched, have not seen this issue.. in the stock music player, all of my music is shown as artist unknown, all under one album with just one album cover art for all songs.
Thanks!
I'm still getting Android.process.media errors. I've hard reset 3 times and it has not helped. The only thing that does help is pulling the SD card but then I still can't use the camera or the camcorder.
Do I get a new SD card or should I call for a replacement?
Here's what I found...
After upgrading from 2.1 to 2.2, initially it seemed that various apps just seemingly were trying to run in the background. After some investigation, I realized its possible to prevent this battery sucking madness from occurring.
Its not exactly perfect, but at least I don't have a boatload of apps constantly running and it seems closer to how my EVO was running with 2.1. I was getting approximately 13-16 hrs of usage time on a single charge...I don't have enough experience after performing these changes to provide any salient comparison data. But I can say that without a doubt, there are less apps constantly running.
Here are some things to look at and consider.
[1] Turning off >>settings>>account & sync>>"Background data" does not act as a "GLOBAL setting". Keep in mind it seems that the data update and sync process are what cause the apps to run in the background. And it seems each app is governed independently and there is no way uniformly control that behavior by one global setting. Once I realized this I was able to look at each offender.
[2] In the same setting section, under "Manage accounts" even though you may not have New, Stocks or Weather enabled, it seems that you might need to manually set the update frequency to never or the longest interval possible. It maybe possible that while you don't have these accounts enabled it just seems to follow the settings.
[3] Likewise, you need to check in the task manager to see which app seem to constantly run wild in the background. These apps also seem to have individual update frequency settings when you open the app (some in obvious settings some not). Some allow you to set update only upon start of the app.
[4] In some cases some apps keep you logged in when you close the app like Qik...it's a pain in the butt to login each time, but if you logout, at least the app doesn't try to periodically update its data all the time.
[5] If you reset the EVO to factory defaults and re-installed the apps in bulk and didn't run the app after the install, this can cause some apps to try to continuously "call home" or look up there GPS location in the case of some geo-location app to initially setup the app. So go and access each app that you see randomly, constantly running in your task manager. As an example, I opened Aloqa and let it initially set my GPS location. After that I think the app uses the last known location, so it lessens its need to constantly initialize itself.
[6] Android is a Linux system, so I guess some processes managing apps are probably governed by init and inittab, so it keeps starting up not matter how many times you might kill it from a task manager. Again check for the offenders in your task manager and see if these are processes that are started up by default in settings>>applications>>Running Services. Obviously it can be a pain in the butt to have to stop the process if you reboot each time, since Android doesn't allow you to control which app process starts by default. As an example here, I prefer using K9 as a mail client, so I killed the default mail client and set the email downloads according to K9 frequency rates.
Again, this is not a perfect strategy, and you still will see some apps still turn on even though you might have followed some of the steps outlined here. I'm only speculating, but since many of the apps just use "reusable components". One app designed for one function might call on an a core Android API to perform some other function. Hence some apps might cause a whole boat load of seemingly unassociated apps to run periodically.
Gook Luck!
I'm now having problems with messaging. I send but it does not send and does not appear in history so it looks like it didn't go but the person received it. Someone sends me messages and I don't get them. It does appear random.
I have to ask,
With hard reset you lose all of your data? Should the card get wiped out? I still see all of the folders.
ok this happened to me when i recently flashed a different ROM. i have a primary gmail, and then i add my secondary. and the secondary would just NOT bring in email in real time.
the final resolution was in accounts and sync in the main phone settings, when you expand to look at all your accounts, there was missing a checkmark for that account. at least look into it unless you already tried it.
I can confirm the choppy video playback - no task killer, after hard reset. Starting any video that I have in the gallery is really choppy. If I hit back to stop it, then play the video again, it's better (I didn't have to let the whole video play as someone else had mentioned).
No its the one for text message. it has been replaced by language choice button at least on me phone only after the Froyo updates
A hard reset fixed my battery drain issue. MUCH better battery life, at least the same as 2.1 now.
I did a factory reset last night and have started fresh. It seems everything is much better, but did get one force close on HTC sense this morning. My battery life drains fast when in use to tell ya the truth. I have done all the battery tips, even with this fresh reset, and have calibrated it. Still left with sub-par battery life during use.
Those of you PM'ing me for help... I'm sorry but I have a full time job, and cannot respond. Please post your questions in the forums, so you can draw from everyone's expertise :)
I will answer a few of the questions though:
* If you sync with Gmail, all of your contacts, calendar appts & mail will sync right up after your hard reset. So will your WiFi settings, and I believe a few others.
* If you're worried about loosing app data try using a program like MyBackUp Pro. That's not an endorsement - nor have I used it - it's just an example. I've read a few people say they've used it successfully. Having said that, you don't want to inadvertently backup something that might be causing your current problem, so my advice would be to just reconfigure the few apps that require it. Also, many apps with extensive settings (like TouchDown) provide the ability to backup configuration settings.
* A hard reset will not blow away anything on your SD card (like pictures & music), so don't worry about that.
* Look at previous posts myself and others posted about backup's in this thread. There's a tool at the top of this page that allows you to search this thread only. It works well.
Back to work :)
I foolishly updated to 2.2 on Friday. Everything has been great until today. I turned my phone off and then back on and now every time the phone starts up I get a "SD Card Mounted ReadOnly" error.
I can't take pictures nor can I see my photos in the gallery. I don't have a task killer installed and I've already done a hard reset. Aslo, I don't have the light app that was causing the camera issues for other people.
Plugging the phone into my work PC and selecting the disk usage option does nothing - the phone does not show up in Windows 7.
Any ideas?
P.S. The disk is a 16GB Class 2 ScanDisk
P.S.S I did a forum search and I didn't see anything - I'm not using this in my car.
Froyo 2.2 has turned my Evo into Sour Milk 2.2. My battery life is awful, drops my BT connection, brower is SLOWWW, and non-stop 3G/4G jumping at my house. I have never experienced these bugs on 2.1.
I did all the adjustments posted in this thread, but still Sour Milk 2.2
I am not alone..... Sprint is building bricks.
Re: Bricked After Updates - What's the Patter - HTC EVO™ 4G (Sprint) - Android Forums - HTC Community
The problem is Sprint techs are unprepared.
I tried PCM36IMG.zip boot. I get ....
"Main Version is Older"
"Update Fail?"
Have not yet seen this issues posted
"The Process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
--Updated to Froyo 2.2
--NO task killer used on phone.
--Hard reset completed (twice)
Thoughts?
Finally,
After the OTA 2.2, the Evo just wasn't up to par in my opinion. The hard reset seems to have fixed many issues. I also transferred my media off my SD card and formatted it. Fresh start.
-white htc screen no longer flashes after initial unlock
-weather/clock HTC widget loading properly and displaying animations
-didn't reinstall any Task Killers (better battery life now, still testing)
-didn't reinstall Led Light app, using built in flashlight app (Fixed camera FC issue)
-set browser to "On Demand" setting (fixes choppy movement/slow browsing)
-flash video still seems to get slightly off sync with audio but that just might be as good as it gets for now
-disabled gtalk autostart (better battery life)
-disabled auto sync for certain items / using manual sync (stocks, news, facebook)
-didn't reinstall certain apps (for now) based on comments stating problems with 2.2 (ie Goggles)
-moved any apps that I could to SD card, all working properly (ie Pandora, Google Shopper)
So far everything seems to be running great. It's sad that a hard reset was necessary, but now that it's out of the way...
I don't think this has been reported yet, but the Last.FM app is acting up. According to last.fm's forum, 2.2 doesn't allow caching of tracks due to Stagefright.
For me, this means that I only get about 10-20% of the song before last.fm freaks out and skips to the next track.
Honestly, this is the only real problem I've found from the 2.2 update. It sucks though, because I use last.fm at work. It's a lot better than Pandora and Slacker for those who listen to more independent and/or obscure music.
Ok, here's a good one. I have been banging my head against the wall for two days about my secondary Gmail account not syncing. Home from work and a non stop day of hitting refresh to get my email, I jumped on the forum to look for any news. Nothing yet it seems except some suggestions (thank you) that I check some of the areas that I already have checked. I went into Accounts and Sync and reviewed the accounts that were set up to sync to make sure once again that all was set right. They were, but I happened to see my recently added and almost never used Youtube account set to sync as well (since it is set up through Google). I decided, what the heck, I have no reason to sync this. I removed it. Cycled the phone off and back on and guess what... every test email I have sent myself to the secondary Gmail account has come through almost instantly. Not sure if this was the cause but it sure is a huge coincidence if it isn't. I have Facebook, Twitter, my two Gmail accounts, the standard stocks/news/weather all set up to sync now, and no more Youtube. I'll keep monitoring it but maybe this was the cause all along. Maybe something I had set up wrong with Youtube or an inherent problem in Youtube sync settings, but... ???? I'll let you know how the rest of the evening goes.
Thanks for the motivation to go back and check my settings one more time. See above post, I think I found it!
I posted a entry earlier today about "apps gone wild".
None of the proactive measures to control background updates helped. I removed the task manager based on the recommendation.
Apps still run like crazy.
My battery used to carry me through 13 hours on 2.1. Now I'm only getting 8 hours.
None of the benefits of froyo is worth the upgrade from eclair. I would take back choppY screen judder anytime.
D.wav support was native before, but no longer works with stock music player. Please add this issue to the official list.
I'm seeing a weird issue when using the Agenda widget. Every time I scroll down on the widget it resets to the top within a second or two.
My single Gmail account before the update had that issue. I played with the settings like you and it started receiving again.
Update on my brick. Sprint suggested I return the phone and get a refund so my 30 day trial would not run out. Took it to the store (3rd party mall Sprint kiosk). They said they would order me a new one. I still have the locked one. They said maybe 3 or 4 days. We'll see.
Meantime I'm using an old Samsung A840 flip. I gotta tell you, it's a simple and tough phone that just works and holds a charge for days. Interesting how we compromise for the best.
Mean time I wonder if the new phone will be preloaded with 2.2. If not I think I'll wait for the next iteration.
Will do. Thanks.
ok. So I think I found a solution for my "android.process.media stopping unexpectedly" error.
I moved everything off my SD card onto my computer. Then I reformated the SD card and then I factory reset my Evo. (reformatting the SD card alone did not work)
It's been 3 hours and I have slowly been redownloading my apps (except for the ones that the comments say are not froyo friendly.)
So far so good.. *keeps fingers crossed*
I was lucky enough to have every bug stated in this thread... thank god for hard resets. Fixed everything I'm officially running froyo without noticing any issues. If I find something is still acting up mostlikely I'll be back posting for a solution.
I have an issue with the live wallpaper changing to a Static HTC (rainbow circle) wallpaper every time I plug my phone into a USB port. It also ends up causing my phone to slow down to a crawl.
Any help besides a hardrest, which I don't even know how to do would be nice.
Went in and deleted all of my music, redownloaded, still showing all songs by unknown artist and one album cover for every song. Tried downloading another music app (Music Mod).. it also shows every song as unknown artist.. anyone else having similar issues with music?
Was told by Sprint tech support that 2.2 does not support wav files any longer. Seems stupid to me. They suggested to flash 2.1 if I need to have it. Sprint - Software Downloads - Select your device type is where we can get the old Rom and flash it as.a normal Rom.
I hard reset using the posted directions. I basically am back to square one, but things seem to be working fine, I have no apps though, my battery seems to be running normal. Would you say no app killer? Any other apps that I should avoid? Visually the updates pretty much looks the same, this isn't what I was hoping for. Anyone heard about a firmware update coming?
Anyone been having the weather app give insane (completely wrong) temperatures for your area?
Also having a random stream dropping issue with streamfurious, and the gmail app will no-longer copy/paste.
(in addition to my battery life going to hell)
I don't see anywhere on that link to 2.1 - I bought this phone b/c my Pre did not support my VM WAV files and this did.
hey I just noticed that my fastweb to app brain is no longer working. I go to website appbrain.com and tell it to install a program and nada happens on my phone. I actually did a hard reset yesterday, and am running froyo .3. Has anyone else noticed this?
ok after much trouble shooting, so nobody else goes through this like I did. When you hard reset your phone, appbrain made a new list for me on the phone. However by default on the web when I was trying to install programs it would send the program to the old list which of course was associated with the pre hard set phone. Therefore I figured out how to set the default list to the new, after hard reset phone and bingo, got my fastweb install back.
Probably a newbie mistake, :)
Not sure if this has been previously reported, but there is a serious bug in the Froyo calendar that results in critical data loss.
(Sprint Evo 4G, stock, official OTA .06 update, non-rooted)
When editing an existing calendar event on Froyo, the Description field is deleted and overwritten by the Where field. If you have an empty Where field, for example, whatever you may have previously written in the Description field gets erased.
Hitting the "Cancel" option will keep the data intact, so you essentially can not edit an event on the device once it's created without deleting the description field.
For those of us relying heavily on Google Calendar services for business, this is not only an inconvenience, but a potential disaster as critical data gets erased not only on the device but on the cloud and every other device synced to it!
My business uses the calendar extensively, with 30-50 events a day, and most of them with lots of data in the Description field.
HELP PLEASE...
I find it difficult to understand how a data-destroying bug could make it into a final release version like this. Is this bug only in the official Evo version of Froyo? Can someone on the unofficial .03 version replicate this bug? Can someone on a custom ROM (CM6?) verify the same? Is there anyone on the official OTA .06 that *doesn't* have this bug?
And lastly, is there a google calendar app or widget that might allow me to edit events on Froyo without erasing data? (UPDATE: It seems at least some calendar apps do still correctly edit events, such as Jorte and iRT Calendar. These apps don't seem to offer a visual option like the "Time View" on the stock calendar... anyone know an app that does?" )
I alerted Sprint to the issue but I didn't get the idea that they were so alarmed. I'd think that with a device like the Evo that has the potential of drawing former Blackberry or Iphone users (as it did me) to a new network and platform, a calendar that erases data might be a high priority bug to fix (like within hours) or perhaps they're too busy counting their money from new subscribers for the first time in years.
...UPDATE: *Multiple* calls to Sprint were met with continued ignorance. They literally denied there was a bug, and produced several erroneous claims about the situation. "your software installed incorrectly... do a hard reset" A hard reset, a true data-wiping hard reset does NOT fix the bug. It is present on all Evos with the official Froyo update. I'm curious to know if any rooted custom Froyo roms also have the bug? Anyway, Sprint was about as unhelpful, unresponsive, inconsiderate, and useless as customer service/tech support could possibly be. They read from scripted procedure and wouldn't listen to me trying to convey the idea that this was a new unreported bug that they needed to file further up the chain.
In fact, I must have talked to over 15 people at Sprint between 3 different calls, not including the one where I was disconnected. It's frustrating spending 45 minutes of my time on the phone trying to communicate a discovered bug. Not to mention every single time they transfer you to a new rep, you have to go through the whole process from scratch... name, phone number, pin number, explain the problem, blah blah blah. "I have to transfer you to an Evo specialist... tech support... this person... that person..." but never a person that gave even the slightest sense of real concern.
Hey SPRINT, is it possible I actually have a BUG that you are unaware of, and someone might actually stop their robotic customer service process to file a report? No, they seem far too lazy to do any real work.
Sorry if I seem a bit miffed. Actually, I'm very disappointed in the service from Sprint. I don't expect an immediate fix. (Although I'm sure the right person could make it happen within hours.) And I guess perhaps I'm one of only a handful of people actually putting the calendar through its paces, non-stop creating and editing events. I'm running a business with several employees and lots of appointments, and our calendar is essential. I sure don't want to go back to crappy AT&T coverage to use an iPhone because the calendar works. I'd much rather be back on Android 2.1 when I could correctly edit an event without deleting crucial data.
Now for the GOOD news: I realized I'd overlooked a potential resource, and got the sense to call HTC. All I can say is WOW, great experience for my first call and so far only call to HTC customer service. My call was immediately answered by a native English speaking individual who conveyed a real personality. I'm convinced she was human. She was both surprised to understand the bug and how and why it happened. She took the time to track down an Evo in the call center and verify the bug first hand. She consulted others, determined the best approach, and filed a bug support request with a higher level in the chain. Oh yeah, she actually apologized that this had been a problem and seemed honestly thankful that I'd taken the time to try and bring it to their attention. She was genuine and present. In contrast, I'm pretty sure the Sprint reps spend most of their time text messaging each other or surfing porn while they pretend to listen to phone calls, incessantly chanting "you need to perform a hard rest."
HTC support has saved the day, at least as far as making me comfortable again with owning an HTC product that is in all other regards working quite well. I've resigned to the fact that all network c.s. is crap, whether it's Sprint, AT&T, or probably even Verizon, which I've not used. This will likely continue until we have network independent phones (and laws that encourage such) and true competition for SERVICE.
Problem resolved? No. The bug is still here. But it seems HTC is honestly looking into it, and I'm waiting eagerly for a call back. All I really want to hear is "Yes, we've verified the bug. Yes, we think this is an important bug to fix quickly. Yes, we are working on it as a priority and you can expect a solution within a matter of days, not weeks." Hopefully they'll take responsibility and get the ball rolling.
If you've read this far, thank you. I hope you got something out of it, even if it's just the knowledge that there is at least one very genuine and real HTC customer service rep who seems to find her job interesting enough to take it seriously and let the customer know they're actually the reason their company is in business.
I promise to update this post (and add a new post to the thread) when I know something more about HTC's response.
I bought Remote Wave from the app store and it works fine. Although we shouldn't have to pay for a third party app to restore functionality.
***UPDATE: A "hard reset" does NOT fix the calendar bug. Other users tested, and I have myself, multiple times. This is indeed a persistent bug existing in the Froyo build. I've reported it to Sprint and HTC. Sprint is ignorant of the issue and doesn't seem to care... they simply say to do a hard reset and give you a bunch of BS. They have refused to verify or acknowledge the bug. HTC, however, seems more receptive. They confirmed the bug exists. Still waiting to hear back from them on a possible fix.***
(Original Post: )
Can someone who has done a hard reset on Froyo please verify the calendar bug I described in the previous post? I would greatly appreciate it, as I want to make sure this is a bug in the system, not just my unit.
To verify the bug, create a new event in the calendar. Make sure to give the event data for the Where field and the Description field, then save it. For example, create a new event like this:
From: Aug 5, 2010 - 9:00 PM
To: Aug 5, 2010 - 10:00 PM
Where: "Somewhere"
Description: "Missing Data"
After saving the event, view it to make sure it appears correctly, especially the "Missing Data" description.
Then edit the event. (While viewing the day or agenda view, press and hold on the event for the option menu which will let you edit it.)
At this point, the description "Missing Data" should be gone, replaced instead by "Somewhere" (or whatever you typed in the Where field).
Is that what happened?
I REALLY appreciate you taking the moment to test this for me.
(UPDATE: Thanks everyone who helped confirm this bug.)
I completed a hard reset and an SD card reformat. Everything is running smoothly so far...
I went through the exact process you listed. I am able to duplicate the results you were getting every time. This is a legit problem. After editing the saved event in calendar - the "Missing Data" field was replaced with "Somewhere."
Please add to the first page of issues. (Stock OTA 2.2, no ATK)
Added. If you guys figure it out, please let me know so I can update again.
Just wanted to share what pretty much solved my battery probs, here is my post incase you didn't see it in the battery life sucks thread
http://forum.androidcentral.com/show...489#post269489
Basically just uninstalled the new FB update and the FB sync accts and my phone falls asleep again and battery life is way better!
Tried everything previous to this, Hard Reset, messed with the settings...but this has had the most effect on battery life. Just wanted to share incase others had the same prob
What method are you using to sync music from your computer to SD card? I would delete all your music, and try to resync it with iSyncr, assuming you are using iTunes.
I was having camera bug until I uninstalled FRING.
Now the camera works great.
This is probably related to the calendar issue mentioned earlier. I have notes attached to several appts. on my calendar. After Froyo, if I view the note, and try to edit the note part disappears and is not editable. Anyone else have this problem?
I had all my music on my SD card in my previous phone (Instinct)... just copied all the music from that card to card in EVO (by docking phone to computer).. before the update, everything was working fine in the music player, now the songs play fine just the above issues.
I have already deleted all music from EVO and re-copied it from the other card, no fix.
thanks for your help
First, let me say I've never rooted. My friendstream widget just states "no recent updates", and when attempting to view my friends' facebook pages from my list of contacts or group of favorites, I just get "the application People (process com.android.htccontacts) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" and it force closes. I've tried everything from logging out of and back into facebook, and clearing the data and cache of both facebook and facebook for htc sense, as well as clearing data for friend stream, friend stream widget, and the people app. I upgraded to Froyo on Monday like most others, and didn't have this problem at first, just started last night. Anyone else experiencing this problem or have any other suggestions for solving it? Thanks.
iHeartradio failed to work after the Froyo update. The app would open but would always stay stuck on "connecting".
Some said they had no problems so it was a bit baffling why until I tried turning on wi-fi and now it works.....even though I have no wi-fi source near me!
m4v files will not play in 2.2, worked great in 2.1
receive "sorry, this video cannot be played"
Already did a recommended hard reset, same result.
I did the hard reset as noted, but once i re-boot my HTC sence weather widget is no longer working? Any suggestions? GPS is on but on the widget says "my location" only no other info
Found that Google Translater does not translate after upgrading to 2.2. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but did not fix it.
I'm not sure if I'm actually signed out of google talk.In the settings I have automatically sign in unchecked, but when I open talk and press menu it shows sign out. Shouldn't this say sign in since I adjusted the settings.
Also If I go to menu/settings/about phone/battery/battery use it shows android sytem at 55 % with data recieved 102.46 kb
I have only been unplugged for 24 min and I have seen it drain 20 % already.
I have not surfed the web or opened twitter. I did go into the market to rollback facebook.
ANY suggestions ?
Leak3d Froyo
After the update, when I'm streaming from Pandora and using Google Navigator, Pandora will stop playing when directions are spoken and I have to press play for it to resume. Before, Pandora would pause and then resume automatically after the directions were spoken.
Anyone else having this problem?
Could updating to Froyo last Friday have mucked up my Evo?
I've noticed that since installing the downloadable update that came out last Friday, my System Panel does not have an inactive list. It's like every single system app I have is in the active list, and things like the RSS Feed and Qik will come back after I've force closed them. I do realize that if there is no activity in the left hand bar related to a particular app, it's not doing anything, but I just thought having NO inactive list at all was strange.
To top it off, my battery went from 100% to zero in five hours today. I'm charging it to 100% again to see if it happens again, but I always have gotten at LEAST a full day out of my battery. Was there a problem with the Froyo release last week? If so, is there any way I can redo the upgrade to the new OTA 2.2?
The first gmail solution link does not link to a corresponding thread.
I used the method of deleting all additional gmail accounts, going into settings and clearing the DATA from the gmail app, reboot, ads accounts back in, make sure check mark is in all accounts to sync MAIL (THIS NOW DEFAULTS TO UNCHECKED), then use the sync all widget and let everything sync.
I have tested all three accounts and received all messages instantly.
We'll see how long it lasts!
Sent from my Evo using Tapatalk Pro.
Thanks for keeping me on my toes :) I will link to your post also as a potential fix.
Yep... Listed in first post, under music and multi tasking.
I did factory reset and everything, no luck. Gmail on secondary account suddenly started working after I sent two emails from the phone using that account. Hoping it holds....
I am having issues since updating to 2.2 with the auto flip from portrait to landscape freezes and wont flip back? any ideas or fixes??? HTC EVO
thats just the way froyo works. inactive cached apps no longer exxist.
I have been having a lot of the issues that everyone has reported with Froyo and I am on the leaked .3 version. Called Sprint about my biggest issues, wav files, yesterday and was told not wav support on 2,2 which is crazy. Decided to call about this and a couple others and talked to another Sprint CS and she said HTC and Sprint are working on fixing all the issues that we are griping about. She said not to go back to 2.1 as it might brick the phone and make it worse. Not sure about that but I guess we will have to hang in there and they will be doing a patch soon. No ETA on the patch but it is coming as she said thousands of people have called CS and they know they have to work on these issues. Thank God we are not dealing with RIM! LOL
For the WAV problem, it will cost you $3, but check out Remote Wave in the market.
Please help! A day after installing Froyo my internet on my EVO no longer works. I have looked everywhere online and no one seems to be addressing this problem. I still get my e-mails but if I try to click a link in them or if I just try to access the internet normally, I get a message saying:
"The application Internet (process com.android.browser) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
I have even tried to install Opera and Skyfire and the problem happens with them as well.
Please let me know what I can do to fix this. And if the fix requires a hrad reset, does that mean I will also lose all of my contacts? Thanks!
Thanks for the tip. I think I might have Vonage send me text messages for the time being because I think HTC will have a fix for multiple fixes very soon.
A hard reset fixed some issues for me and as long as you have your contacts backed up on Google you will get them right back once you will log into gmail account. SD card will not be effected by the hard reset. Give it a shot.
Check out Jorte and iRT calendar. I don't have 2.2 so I can't verify, but it appears these may do their own updating, bypassing the built-in calendar update. OTOH, if the problem is that Android changed the calendar database, and htc didn't change app to match, any other calendar app is going to have the same problem.
correct.
That kind of sucks because my 4 G never plays well with my WiFi.
well i never received the the Froyo update for my EVO but i called up sprint to find out away. Apparently the engineers at Sprint pulled the update off the list because there has been reported issues that the Sprint Email, Sprint TV and Voice Data loss (i.e, increase in dropped calls) so until further notice Froyo will not be released until Sprint ready.....i wish there was a way to get the file so i could manually install it =[
Flash crashing? Who could have seen that coming ;)
Seriously though, at least Froyo is officially on the Evo- just be happy that it's even being pushed out. Some problems were bound to happen, don't be surprised. It's the first non-developer phone to get Froyo officially. The fact that the Evo got it before the DINC still is surprising to me. Then again, I think we all know how Verizon is with getting updates out fast.
Not sure if anyone has experienced this...but my browser just randomly stops working. What I mean is it won't go anywhere. Google will let you type stuff in (No auto populate comes up) and the only way to deal with it is to turn off/on phone.
Is that the plugin fix?
The other issue I have is google listen and podkast will hang and stay in the notification bar even when killed by Running Services. Again, turn on/off fixes it.
I kinda wish I had that problem. I'd buy radiotime if I had 4g. Where I'm at I get no 4G, closest is 65 miles, oh well.
Check out RadioTime. I think it's 3 but you can do the same thing. Also syncs to website playlists so you don't have to manage everything from your phone.
Wow, I guess im just lucky, no problems here
images no longer appear on my dilbert.com through my gmail
Everything is working great , but my music is gone cant find it anywhere , its not in the music player I have unmounted and remounted the card but still nothing , I can plug it to my pc and there it is but nothing on the phone ? the only thing in the music player is a ring tone that was deleted but its still showing up damnifi know
Calendar Pad Pro IMHO best calendar program for Android after 2.2 update my calendar is no longer visible in the settings and my events are no longer visible. In the Android 2.2 calendar program all my google calendar events are still visible. The free calendar pad program works with the 2.2 upgrade with my calendar events still visible
interesting if this is true. . . . .
My data speeds have been getting slower and slower. Didnt know if it was ROM related or network related.
I called CS last night and worked with them. As soon as I said on 2.2 10min into the call, click. . . dead air. didnt know if he hung up on me or what, but my data speeds immediately went from like 50kbps to like 1.2MBPS
Unbelievable!!!! Push stopped working again!!!!!!
This has to be a gmail issue.
Sent from my Evo using Tapatalk Pro.
GDocs
spreadsheet are working fine.
documents download but display nothing, on a 2nd select of the doc only a single blank line appears
Mine were too - I did a PRL and Profile update and it's back to normal.
I'm having the same problem and it is down right ticking me off....I could of waited. Group is not what I expected! Can someone answer the question with a solution please??
I haven't had really any issues with the new update...that I've found yet...except this: I have Facebook for HTC and when I select "Older Posts" on the news feed, I only get a couple posts or none at all and the date listed on the last one is Dec 31. This seems like such a trivial issue and I've searched through the forum but haven't seen anyone else have this issue. I had no problems before the update. Any help would be greatly appreciated...I'd hate to do a hard reset just for this.
I just hot a video sent to me from a friend via g-mail and when i went to play it it will work but i dont get no sound. and yes it's all the way up. can someone help me:(
I have had my 2nd spontaneous reboot in 12 hours. Minding my own business and the next thing I know, I am watching the Yellow 4G fly apart.
I can confirm that push gmail has stopped working for me again as well (no changes to my Evo), on my secondary (work) account. Lovely. My main account is still syncing fine, however. It doesn't seem fully logical that there isn't some interaction with Froyo secondary gmail accounts and gmail - otherwise it seems both should stop working.
Ive had websites mistake my Evo for a droid x. Facebook site tells me I can install facebook for android on my droid x.
When I plug my Evo into my car charger now, I can't use the media player anymore, because the Evo reports that the SD card is being used to connect to a computer via USB.
I'm pretty sure there's no computer hiding in my car's accessory socket... and even if there was, I haven't selected the mass storage option from the usual menu that you get when you plug into a computer via USB... It just seems to automtically assume that that's why it's plugged in rather than even giving me a menu option so I can decide for myself.
I'm sure this has already been covered, but I'm at work and don't have time to pour over the thread. I can't charge my phone in the car and listen to music at the same time because it keeps unmounting the SD card. Is there anything I can do to correct this?
I can't move apps to the SD Card, the button is there, but not enabling me to push it.
The app has to be designed to allow it. Many aren't.
Hey I just spoke to Sprint and supposedly there is going to be another update to fix the glitches post froyo when they didn't say but they are just waiting on HTC
Someone else reported this as well. Can you point your browser here and paste the results in this thread?
Are the 2 of you using USB car chargers?
I wonder if it has something to do with the SD card. Someone else reported that this worked for them with "android.process.media" issues. Maybe your phone is trying to interact with the card for some other reason, and is running in to issues.
Did the 2 of you try all of the solutions in the first post, a combination of, or just one of them?
Yes, I'm using a USB charger.
Yeah I'm using a USB car charger too... but it was working fine BEFORE the update to Froyo... Don't get me wrong... everything else about Froyo I love... but this is frustrating and annoying. :(
Seems that after I did a factory reset, hard reset, deleted and re-download some apps, changes all my settings again im finally getting battery levels as it was on 2.1.
FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH GMAIL SYNC ISSUES READ THIS POST IT WORKED FOR ME!!
THanks ADRINAQ!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Like many here I was having the same "no sync" problem with my non-primary gmail accounts. Here is how I fixed my issue. YMMV.......
NOTE: There might be a shorter way, but I will state exactly what I did verbatim.
1) Made sure my accounts were setup for sync.
(Setting-> Accounts & Sync)
2) Went to Settings->Applications->Manage Application->ALL->Gmail and Pressed the clear data button.
3) At this point I was getting Force Closed issues when I clicked on my GMAIL Unread count widget. Just go to the App Tray and load up the gmail app. It will will give you a message asking you to wait for mail to set up. I just cancelled out.
4) Rebooted
5) err message on my secondary gmail unread count widget went away.
6) Sent a test email to my secondary gmail account and 5 seconds later (literally...I timed it)...it popped up on my phone.
I have since received a handful of emails from various sources and things are looking good.
Hope this help.
I agree it's broken and should be fixed. I'm doing saying this by memory, because I no longer have an EVO, but... as a workaround, I believe when you plug the EVO in to a USB source, you can swipe downward on the notification panel and click on the USB notification. From there I think you have the option to change it to Charge Only, and then making that the default connection type. I would try choosing both. When you plug it into your computer to access the storage card, you can always change it from Charge Only to Disk Drive.
Let me know if 1) that works and 2) If I got the verbiage right as far as what to click on.
Mine seems to be working fine, but what I don't get is how some peoples has no problems and others have all kinds. Its the same software going on the same phone. Is the apps that cause it?
