Twitter for Android not keeping sync settings

I updated the app today and ever since then, Twitter isn't keeping my sync settings. I keep checking the box that says sync Twitter data, but everytime I leave the menu or change the eingtone notification, it grays out again. I tried reinstalling and clearing cache but its still the same. Anyone else have this problem? I'd hate to have to get another app. This one was straightforward and did what I needed it to do without much clutter. It still syncs manually but I'd like to be notified instead of always checking. Any ideas? Running stock, by the way.

It's already on their issue tracker... no fix in sight.

Myself, I gave up, and use Launcher Pro's Twitter widget on the desktop for a quick glance and the mobile web app for everything else.
