Evo won't email pictures

Tried to find the answer online first.

I've tried to email some pix that I've taken with the camera using both the Gmail account and a IMAP account. I hit send and the phone will sit for about 10 minutes and finally will give me an error message that it can't send the email.
Am I doing something incorrectly? I've gone in through gallery and tried to send and have also gone into email first and tried to add an attachement.

3G is on and working.

Have you tried a reboot? I've gone through this before with the gmail app and a reboot cleared it up for me.

Are you able to send emails with out attachments?
If you can was the attachment small or large?
