Today, I went into to a Sprint store(authorized reseller) and when I go to buy the Evo, first the guy was like today you're looking at $218 mail in rebate. But then after getting the paperwork and asking can he port my contacts, guy was like oh we'll do that when we get the phone in. Guy never told me they didn't have Evos in and he never told me about a shipping charge that he charged me, which i'm thinking wtf? He saw the look on my face and he told me I'd can get a free accessory.

But I looked at that paperwork over a thousand times already and something doesn't click. my total came out to like $356.79.

Where else should I look to get an Evo at a better price?

Never go to one of those authorized dealers unless its best buy or radio shack. They small shops rip you off.

I don't think they price match an online retailer. Don't you have to bring in an ad plus they need to have a store within a certain distance?

Well I'm for sure am going back today and demanding my money back since I technically just bought it yesterday. I'm going to look and see if BB do price match and if not, then I'll probably just order it online.

On line is the best way to go.. If you're a premier customer its even better - you get the activation fee waive, and if they mention anything about any other fee.. ask them to waive that too.

Note: Remember that there will be an additional $100 dollars added on to the $199, so the full price will be $299 plus tax. The $100 dollars will be refunded back to you as a rebate. So you're actually paying $199.00 for the phone.

Ps. If you don't have a spending limit on your account - you can add the bill to your account.(That's what I did.)

    Good luck.

I wouldn't say you are getting ripped off but you can definitely get a better deal somewhere else. The phone is $199 with rebate so you pay $299 plus tax and activation at the store so $350 is about right. Best Buy and Radio Shack give instant rebates, and if RS is still doing the $99 special that's definitely where you want to go.

Ya man that sound a bit much but I went to radio shack made sure they had mine on hold for me a friend did and he said they where doing a deal like 149.99.and taxes come to 161.00 out the door I didn't want any accessories i had a 16 gb sdcard. and I also saw it online around the same time going for $ 99.00 but you had to add a new line or start a new account but either way mine was way cheaper. i would usually do the online thing but I have my phone under a friends account and also I couldn't wait to get my new white Evo that radio shack had just started selling but if I was going to get it for that price I see them on Craigslist. and if you already had a Sprint plan just put that phone on my already main number but that's what I did and what i would have done

Best Buy definitely will match prices with online retailers. I went in one day to buy a hdmi cable and they were like $70 for the cheapest one so as i was leaving one of the guys asked why I was leaving so fast. I said "Man, I can get that same hdmi cable from newegg.com for $12" and he said go ahead and grab it, took it to the register and told her to ring it up for $12.

Definitely going back and I'll probably get it online since it's cheaper from the looks of it. The guy never even mentioned anything about that fee, but my account has the spending limit so i can't charge it

But will best buy actually do that for a phone? I mean you walked out and told them why you were leaving so quickly.

Yup. Best Buy is the way to go. First one I went to didn't have any and the associate called around until he found a store with one in stock. Walked in, transferred contacts, purchased a few extras for the Evo, and walked out in 45 mintues, with a working Evo, for around $270. No rebate needed!

Cool, I'll call one and see what they tell me. I really need a case for it as well preferablly something like the Otterbox Defender series, which is why I was seeking around stores.

They picked the wrong guy to take for a ride that's for sure. Definitely going to request my money back ASAP.

No they won't match online prices period. I would say order it on Amazon (if they have stock) for $99 and have it shipped...

You can go one step further and tell sprint of the issue and they can correct the price and prob drop a few credits for you.

Update: Went to the store and was pretty firm in that I didn't think it was right for them to charge me for the S/H since it wasn't my fault that they didn't have any Evos in stock, plus the guy never really said anything about them not having any before signing my paperwork.

And I told him I basically wanted to cancel the deal because I found a better deal elsewhere and told them the case I wanted they didn't have, they only had the Otterbox defender.

They told me they couldn't cancel and stop the order since the phone was already in transient but I was still pretty firm about it. Guy offered to give me the Otterman case even though the shipping charge was only $25, but I still wouldn't buck. So he threw in a blutetooth headset.

Right now I decided ok, I'll consider that while I wait for the phone to arrive. Should I just cancel anyway and go elsewhere or just keep the order with them since they're still a Sprint store, though an authorized reseller?

If this is a new line the going rate for an Evo is $99. For an upgrade it is $200. No more.
