My take on the whole "Upgrade Eligibility" issue ($69.99 plan)

Since there's bound to be some new devices on the horizon, i started looking into this today

So the new way is, you get a new device at upgrade price once a year if you have the $99.99 a month plan, with the other plans you would have to wait 22 months to get the upgrade price.. this is my situation:

i currently have the $69.99 plan, 450 Anytime Minutes Included (use about 10 landline minutes a month), unlimited everything else. i was considering switching back to the $99.99 plan until i looked at the numbers.. i now save $30.00 a month on my plan (dropped from 99.99 to 69.99):

$30
x12
-----
$360

so i now save $360 a year on my current plan. the average savings that come along w/ an eligible upgrade to a new device are usually between $200-$300.

so in the long run, you still save money paying retail price for an upgrade after 1 year.

Just a little info i was looking into today, hope it helps some people w/ their current/future plans ;)

You have it completely wrong.. For starters your not losing your 1yr upgrade on the 69.99 plan, you just end up only getting $75 a year instead of the $150. Also in order to become a Premier Gold member it takes the 89.99 plan or higher not the 99.99.

Are you talking about rebates? If so Verizon was the one who ditched rebates not Sprint.

hmmm.. i thought the new policy would be forcing people to pay the retail price if they wanted to upgrade in a hear rather than 2.. but i guess you can still upgrade every year but you only get $75 off rather than $150.. and that's a good question.. will rebates still be included?

Yes you will still get phone rebates. As for that off retail? Well if that was the case people would be paying over $400 bucks for any smartphone even with $150 off. So no that is not the case...
