[Q] Can I freeze the "Messages" app?

Why would I want to you might be asking your self, well I have Handcent SMS and I get two pop ups. I only want to use Handcent.

You could unchecked (Auto retrieve) in the messages settings.

If you're still getting notification pop-up from the stock messaging app, either force stop it, or erased data, or uninstall the stock app.

In the settings there is the option to receive notification and play sound. Just uncheck both.
