When wired headset is plugged in mic doesnt work?

It's weird because sometimes I can plug in the headphones from iPhone with Mic and people can hear me crystal clear and I can hear them, then suddenly I can only hear them and they can't hear me and the Mic becomes useless on the headphones. I tested them on my friends evo and they worked just fine. What could be the problem with my evo?

What brand of headset are you using for this?

Make sure they're plugged in ALLl the way. Just a thought.

I am using Palm Pre headphones with mic and Iphone headphones

I do plug them in all the way so that is not the issue..I wonder if it is a hardware or software issue. I can hear people clearly they just cant hear me.

Just curious, is it a TRS connector or TRRS connector?

I believe it is a Trrs connector.

does it happen everytime? Did you try another pair of headphones on your Evo? Always try different peripherals instead of jumping right to the phone.
