Default Launcher Issues

I have an unrooted Evo shift 4g and I downloaded Launcher 7 ( a launcher designed to look like windows phone 7 UI) and I want to use it as a default. Whenever I press the home button a box that says "complete action using" pops up with the option of htc sense or launcher 7. Here is a list of things I have tried to make it a default.
Checking the "use by default for this action" box in the pop up

Using scores of third party "home smack" and "home switcher" knockoffs

And going through the applications- manage applications- and clearing defaults for htc sense, but there is no option in launcher 7 for "'make default"

Any ideas to help? Thanks!

I understand you like the Launcher 7, but I use Go Launcher and absolutely love it. The only time I have to choose which browser when I hit the home button is just after updating the Go Launch app. After that, the check box never fails to keep my choice. I would suggest the issue is with the Launcher app, not the phone or OS. Are you running Gingerbread?
