sd card problems

2 nights ago my phone completely died with no way to charge it, when i got home the next day and turned it on the phone showed the normal msg saying it was preparing my sd card, then the screen flashes and it pops up with a msg saying "removed sd card" i have tried removing and putting the sd card back in, tried booting it up without the card shut it down and put the card back in and ive even tried to put a different sd card in but nothing seems to work. Phone says i have a system update but i cant download it cuz no card. Anyone else have this problem? If so, how can it be fixed? Do i need to take it to a store? Any advice/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated
