Any way to back up and restore local notebooks?

Anyone know of a way to back up and restore local (not synched with Evernote) notes in the Notes app? I had to do a factory reset of my Flyer to fix some problems recently. Before I did it, I located and copied to SD card the directory where Notes stores your notes, but after the factory reset, copying them back to the original location isn't sufficient to actually restore them within the Notes application because apparently the information about what notebook they're in isn't stored as part of the same directory. There's no option to open the files using Notes when browsing them in Astro, apparently because each handwritten note is stored as several different "layers" and not as a Notes-specific file format - for each note I see several image files corresponding to the handwritten entry, plus a text file that contains any text entered via the keyboard.
